Data Communication deals with the techniques of making the Data transportable on the medium of interest be it telephone network, power lines, fiber cables or wireless. The techniques include Encoding / Decoding, Converting electrical signals into light pulses / Electromagnetic waves of suitable frequency. Data Communication interface deals with compatibility issues between one equipment and the other equipment. For example, one equipment may be transmitting data one byte at a time on 8 wires parallely while the other equipment takes the Data Input only serially i.e., bit after bit on a single wire.
